Our volunteers are a diverse group of individuals dedicated in helping those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in our community.
Through volunteering, they also build relationships with our clients.
Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center offers several volunteering opportunities including:
If you like bagging groceries, sorting clothes, preparing hygiene kits, or greeting people, this might be a perfect opportunity for you!
Feeding San Diego provides for
our food pantry which is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Volunteers are asked to sort food, assist in set up and clean up, sign in clients, and assist them in shopping for groceries available at the pantry. We always greet our clients with a smile.
Emergency Food Assistance Program from San Diego Food Bank delivers food on the third Thursday of the month. Volunteers check in at our basement at 7:30 am. Volunteers sign in and are instructed to separate food, pre-bag and help distribute. Food is distributed from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Volunteers are asked to stay on-site until all food is bagged. General clean-up is also expected.
Michael Turcotte is our master gardener. Volunteers interested in gardening will be instructed by Michael in general weeding of the garden beds in the back of our garden, pruning our vegetable garden as well as composting. Volunteers can help with planting our seasonal garden as per Michael's instructions.
